MeMstar is a small French astronomy brand developed by two amateur astronomers and engineers in Montpellier. Its product is a remarkably simple solution to a familiar problem: finding objects with a manually operated telescope.
MeMstar is a Push-To system without encoders. A tiny MEMS-based box attaches directly to the telescope and communicates with a smartphone via Bluetooth, guiding the observer towards the selected object without requiring motors, encoders or any modification to the telescope. The system is particularly well suited to Dobsonian telescopes and other alt-azimuth instruments.
Its appeal lies in its simplicity, low weight and clever engineering: a small French-made device that adds much of the convenience of electronic object finding while retaining the simplicity and immediacy of a manual telescope.
