Guide scopes are compact optical tubes designed to work with guide cameras for accurate telescope guiding. Attached to and aligned with the main telescope, guide scopes typically provide a wide field of view that makes it easier to find suitable guide stars. The guide camera and guiding software then use this view to send precise tracking corrections to the mount, helping produce sharper stars and longer exposures.
