Description

The StellaLyra 6″ f/4 M-LRN-D is a fast, compact imaging Newtonian telescope designed specifically for deep-sky astrophotography. Built around a 150 mm parabolic primary mirror with a 600 mm focal length, this telescope delivers a wide field of view and rapid light-gathering performance, making it particularly well suited for capturing nebulae, star fields, and larger galaxies.

Its fast f/4 focal ratio allows shorter exposure times compared to slower optical systems, helping you collect more light in less time. This is especially beneficial for astrophotographers working under variable skies or aiming to maximise imaging efficiency during limited observing sessions.

The optical tube is constructed from lightweight carbon fibre, offering improved thermal stability compared to traditional metal tubes. Carbon fibre expands and contracts less as temperatures change, helping maintain focus consistency throughout long imaging sessions and reducing the need for frequent refocusing.

Combining practical imaging performance with a lightweight and modern mechanical design, the precision CNC-machined tube rings and dovetail mounting hardware provide secure attachment while keeping overall system weight manageable for mid-sized equatorial mounts.

The upgraded dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser allows smooth and precise focusing adjustments, which is particularly important when working at fast focal ratios where critical focus zones are narrow. The focuser’s improved rigidity also helps maintain image alignment when using heavier astrophotography accessories.

Unlike visual-oriented Newtonians, this imaging model uses an oversized secondary mirror to provide better illumination for larger camera sensors, helping reduce vignetting and improving edge-to-edge field coverage for astrophotography.

Compared to longer focal length telescopes, this telescope prioritises imaging speed and wide-field capability, making it an excellent choice for users focused on deep-sky imaging efficiency rather than high-magnification planetary work.

Overall, the StellaLyra 6″ f/4 M-LRN-D is designed as a dedicated wide-field astrograph that combines fast optics, lightweight carbon fibre construction, and imaging-focused mechanics into a compact and highly capable astrophotography platform.

NOTE: As with all fast Newtonian telescopes, for astrophotography, a StellaLyra or Baader MPCC coma corrector is required for optimum results.
