For astrophotographers looking to move up to a larger aperture without sacrificing optical precision, the StellaMira 126mm ED Quadruplet offers an outstanding balance of resolution, imaging speed, and versatility. Its integrated flat-field optical design delivers sharp, well-corrected stars across large imaging sensors, while an optional reducer allows the telescope to adapt to both wide-field nebulae and more compact deep-sky targets.
The StellaMira 126mm ED Quadruplet f/7 Flatfield Refractor has been designed as a premium astrograph for astrophotographers seeking exceptional optical correction alongside the flexibility to tackle a wide variety of deep-sky targets. Combining a generous 126mm aperture with a sophisticated quadruplet optical design, it delivers excellent image quality straight out of the box while offering the versatility to grow alongside more advanced imaging systems.
At the heart of the telescope is a four-element apochromatic optical system incorporating ED glass and an integrated field-flattening lens. Unlike conventional refractors that often require a separate field flattener for astrophotography, the optical system is designed to produce a naturally flat imaging field, helping to maintain sharp, round stars from the centre of the frame right out towards the edges of modern full-frame camera sensors.
The 126mm objective gathers approximately 40% more light than a typical 100mm refractor, allowing finer detail to be recorded in faint nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters while also providing improved resolution for lunar and planetary observing. The larger aperture also gives the telescope greater versatility as both an imaging instrument and a premium visual refractor.
Its 742mm focal length strikes an excellent balance between image scale and field of view. This makes the telescope equally comfortable imaging large emission nebulae, extended molecular clouds, medium-sized galaxies, and open clusters without becoming overly specialised for any single class of object. For astrophotographers seeking even wider fields and faster exposure times, a dedicated optional 0.8× reducer transforms the telescope into a faster wide-field imaging system while maintaining excellent optical correction.
The telescope features a heavy-duty 3.4″ dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser engineered to support substantial imaging payloads including cooled astronomy cameras, filter wheels, electronic focus motors and off-axis guiders. The precision 1:10 fine-focus mechanism allows extremely accurate focusing, while the integrated 360° camera angle adjuster makes it easy to frame targets without disturbing telescope alignment.
To maximise compatibility with a wide range of imaging equipment, the telescope is supplied with multiple threaded camera adapters including M70, M63, M54 and M48 connections. These allow users to configure an imaging train that best suits their equipment while maintaining a secure threaded connection throughout. The larger diameter threads also help minimise mechanical vignetting when using full-frame cameras and larger imaging accessories.
Although primarily developed as an astrograph, the StellaMira 126mm ED Quadruplet also excels as a visual instrument. The combination of generous aperture, excellent colour correction and naturally flat field produces crisp lunar detail, high-contrast planetary views and beautifully sharp star fields across low-power eyepieces.
Whether building a dedicated astrophotography system or investing in a premium all-round refractor, the StellaMira 126mm ED Quadruplet offers a combination of optical quality, mechanical precision and imaging flexibility that will satisfy both experienced imagers and ambitious enthusiasts for many years to come.
