Description

The StellaMira 66mm ED Quadruplet f/7 Flatfield Refractor is a compact apochromatic astrograph engineered for wide-field astrophotography and portable astronomical observation. Combining a four-element optical system with integrated field correction, the telescope is designed to deliver sharp, evenly illuminated images without the need for an additional field flattener.

With a 66mm aperture and 462 mm focal length, the telescope provides a versatile focal range that works particularly well for capturing expansive deep-sky subjects such as nebulae, larger galaxies, open star clusters, and rich Milky Way star fields. Its moderate focal ratio also offers a practical balance between imaging speed and optical correction.

The quadruplet optical configuration incorporates ED glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration and maintain accurate colour correction across the visible spectrum. This helps produce high-contrast images with clean, well-defined stars and reduced colour fringing, both visually and in astrophotography applications.

Unlike many small refractors that require additional corrective accessories for astrophotography, the telescope’s built-in flat-field optical design is intended to maintain sharp star performance across the imaging plane. This simplifies imaging setup and reduces the spacing adjustments often associated with external flatteners.

The telescope features a robust 2.8″ dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser designed to provide both smooth operation and sufficient rigidity for heavier imaging equipment. Fine-focus adjustment allows accurate critical focusing for astrophotography, while the rotatable focuser assembly makes image framing more convenient during camera setup.

Multiple threaded camera connection options are incorporated into the focuser assembly, allowing straightforward integration with DSLR, mirrorless, and dedicated astronomy cameras. The focuser is also compatible with electronic autofocus systems for automated imaging workflows.

Its compact dimensions and relatively lightweight construction make the telescope highly suitable for portable equatorial mounts and travel-friendly astrophotography systems. CNC-machined tube rings and carrying handle provide additional mounting flexibility and structural rigidity while maintaining portability.

Although primarily designed as an astrophotography instrument, the StellaMira 66mm ED Quadruplet also performs well as a compact visual refractor. Wide-field views of open clusters, brighter nebulae, and lunar detail benefit from the telescope’s sharp optics and excellent contrast.

Overall, the StellaMira 66mm ED Quadruplet f/7 combines portable dimensions, integrated flat-field optics, and imaging-focused mechanical design into a capable and user-friendly wide-field astrograph suitable for both beginner and experienced astrophotographers.
