DWARFLAB Mini Smart Telescope

The DWARFLAB Mini is a compact smart telescope that combines automated astronomy with digital photography in a lightweight, highly portable package. Rather than using a traditional eyepiece, the telescope is operated entirely from a compatible smartphone or tablet, allowing users to locate, track and photograph celestial objects through the DWARFLAB mobile app.

Designed for both astronomy and terrestrial photography, the DWARF Mini features a dual-camera system consisting of a dedicated telephoto imaging telescope alongside a wide-angle camera. The wide-angle camera assists with target acquisition and can also be used for landscape photography, while the telephoto telescope provides higher magnification for imaging the Moon, brighter deep-sky objects, wildlife and distant scenery.

The telescope uses a 24mm aperture with a 100mm focal length, producing an f/4.2 optical system. This compact design provides a balance between portability and imaging performance, making it well suited to photographing larger deep-sky objects, star fields and the lunar surface. Although its smaller aperture naturally gathers less light than larger smart telescopes, its automated imaging capabilities allow users to capture astronomical targets that would be difficult to observe with handheld cameras alone.

Once a target is selected within the companion app, the integrated motorised mount automatically slews to the object and tracks its movement across the sky. Automated tracking allows longer exposures than would otherwise be possible on a fixed tripod, helping improve image quality while removing much of the complexity traditionally associated with astrophotography.

The DWARF Mini also supports automated image capture and stacking through the app, simplifying the process of producing detailed astronomical images. Users can control camera settings, monitor live images and save photographs directly from their mobile device.

Weighing well under a kilogram and incorporating a rechargeable internal battery together with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the DWARF Mini is designed to travel easily. Its compact size makes it suitable for garden observing, holidays, camping trips and remote dark-sky locations where a traditional telescope may be impractical.

As a dedicated smart telescope, the DWARF Mini is designed exclusively for digital observing and photography. It does not include an eyepiece and all operation, viewing and image capture are carried out using the DWARFLAB mobile app on a compatible smartphone or tablet.
