The Vaonis Vespera II is a fully automated smart telescope that combines an apochromatic refractor, precision GoTo mount and high-resolution camera into one compact system. Designed exclusively for astrophotography, it automatically locates, tracks and photographs celestial objects, allowing users to capture impressive images of the night sky using a smartphone or tablet.
The Vaonis Vespera II is an advanced smart telescope designed to make astrophotography accessible without the complexity traditionally associated with astronomical imaging. Combining premium refractor optics, a motorised GoTo mount and a high-resolution astronomical camera into a single compact instrument, Vespera II automatically locates, tracks and photographs celestial objects while being controlled entirely from a compatible smartphone or tablet using the Singularity app.
At the heart of the telescope is a 50mm apochromatic refractor featuring a quadruplet lens design with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass. This optical configuration is engineered to minimise chromatic aberration while delivering sharp, high-contrast images across the entire field of view. With a 250mm focal length and a fast f/5 focal ratio, the telescope is particularly well suited to wide-field astrophotography, allowing large nebulae, galaxies, open clusters and extended regions of the Milky Way to be captured with excellent detail.
Image capture is handled by the Sony IMX585 CMOS sensor, offering a resolution of 8.3 megapixels. The modern back-illuminated sensor combines high sensitivity with low read noise, allowing the telescope to record faint astronomical detail while maintaining excellent image quality across a wide range of observing conditions.
Using the Singularity app, users simply select an object from the built-in catalogue, after which Vespera II automatically performs target acquisition, field recognition, precise centring and continuous tracking. As images are collected, the telescope carries out live image stacking, progressively revealing detail and improving image quality throughout the imaging session without requiring specialist knowledge of astrophotography software.
Unlike conventional telescopes, Vespera II requires no manual alignment or polar alignment before use. Its fully automated Alt-Azimuth mount and integrated field correction technology simplify setup, allowing users to begin imaging within minutes of powering on the telescope.
Designed for portability, the Vespera II weighs just 5kg and incorporates a rechargeable internal battery capable of supporting extended observing sessions. Integrated Wi-Fi provides direct communication between the telescope and a compatible smartphone or tablet, eliminating the need for additional controllers or cables during normal operation.
As a dedicated smart telescope, the Vespera II is designed exclusively for digital astronomy and astrophotography. It does not include an eyepiece and cannot be used as a conventional visual telescope. Instead, all observing, control and image acquisition are performed through the Singularity app, providing an intuitive experience suitable for beginners while offering advanced imaging capabilities for more experienced users.
